The first rollings of a new steel sheet pile section are always a challenge for a mill, especially after a revamp. ArcelorMittal’s rolling mill in Rodange, Luxembourg, which underwent a major revamp end of 2007, started his production of special sections a couple of months ago, and in parallel the rolling tests of steel sheet piles. It achieved the first industrial rolling of the new PU 7R this Monday 17^th of March 2008. This milestone sets the beginning of a new era for this mill. Besides, the next sheet pile shape in line, the PU 10R, is already expected for May 2008.

 

In a first step, the PU 7R and its rolled up section will be available in steel grades up to S 355 GP. You can find all the characteristics of these new sections either in our dedicated flyer ‘PU-R sections’ or in our brand new ‘General Catalogue 2008’.

Les premiers laminages d'une nouvelle palplanche représentent toujours un défi important pour un site de production. Le laminoir d'ArcelorMittal à Rodange au Luxembourg, en grande partie modernisée fin 2007, a commencé les premiers tests de laminage des nouvelles PU-R en parallèle à la production de profilés spéciaux, il y a maintenant plusieurs mois. Depuis le 17 mars 2008, la production industrielle de la nouvelle PU 7R est confirmée. Cet évènement marque le début d'une nouvelle ère annonçant déjà la PU 10R, suivante dans la gamme, pour mai 2008.

 

Dans une première phase, la PU 7R et la PU 8R seront disponibles dans des nuances d'acier jusqu'à S 355 GP. Vous trouverez toutes les caractéristiques de ces nouvelles sections dans notre fiche "Profils PU-R" ou dans le nouveau "Catalogue Général 2008".

Die erste Walzung eines neuen Profils ist immer eine Herausforderung für ein Walzwerk, vor allem kurz nach einem Umbau. Das Walzwerk von ArcelorMittal in Rodingen, Luxemburg wurde Ende 2007 umgebaut; die Produktion von Spezialprofilen und die Testwalzung von Spundwänden wurden vor einigen Monaten gemeinsam hochgefahren. Die erste Herstellung von PU-7R Profilen in industriellem Maßstab fand am Montag 17. März 2008 statt. Dieser Meilenstein ist der Beginn einer neuen Ära des Rodinger Walzwerks. Schon im Mai 2008 folgt die Walzung des nächsten Profils, der PU 10R.

 

Die PU 7R und PU 8R sind vorerst in Stahlgüten bis S 355 GP erhältlich. Details zur Profilgeometrie sind in unserem Flugblatt “PU-R Profile” und in unserem brandneuen Gesamtkatalog 2008 (vorerst nur in Englisch) erhältlich.
